Third Year

Updated: May 24, 2020

Third year has well a truly begun as we are now in week 8 of the year and new project is well under way! After the procedure of pitching our ideas for our final films to industry, my idea, Buried Treasure was fortunately chosen to be made into a physical film this year. The films pitched by fellow classmates were to such a high standard was shocked to hear mine has been picked!

The narrative for my final film is a bittersweet story about a fathers loss after his daughter passes away at a very young age, but the memories of them pretending to be pirates at the late are forever repeating in his head. At the end of the film we see the father as a very old man who peacefully passes away in his sleep, who is then reunited with his daughter on the lake where there continue to play as pirates, like no time had passed at all. Despite this sorrow theme the main focus for the story is the relationship between the father and daughter and that the real "treasures" from this life are the moments with the people around you.

The way I came up with these ideas was by sketching out random characters from different inspirations and that lead me to come up with their background stories. These sketches were then drawn digitally and colour schemes were made.

This lead to initial storyboards and locations sketching

This then lead to me digitally drawing my designs for my pitch in front of industry using Photoshop
